Taroudant is a small town on the old caravan route from Marrakech to the Sahara.

Some of the walls were in need of repair
Taroudant has a small and pungent tannery

We did a day trip over the Tiz-n’Test pass in the High Atlas mountains to visit the Tin Mal Mosque
Even though it was winter, the almond trees were blossoming

It was roofless but inside were rows of decorative arches, pillars, corner domes and an ornate Mihrab.
On the way back to Taroudant we stopped for a quick peek at the Riad Hida which was restored by a Danish millionaire in the 1950’s. He spent 30 years restoring it to its former glory.
