Casablanca is the biggest city and commercial capital of Morocco. Most travellers only stay long enough to change planes or catch a train but we decided to stay for a couple of days to check out the country’s biggest mosque and acclimatise ourselves to Morocco
A selection of tagines for dinner
Carpets for sale in a Casablanca showroom
Murals on the walls of Casablanca’s old medina
The Hassan II Mosque is the third largest mosque in the world with the tallest minaret in the world
The mosque was built partially on land and partially out into the Atlantic Ocean to illustrate the verse from the Quran that God’s throne is on the water
Corrosion resistant titanium doors
Ablution rooms
Entrance to the hammam (Turkish baths)
The hammam
La Sqala Restaurant nestled in the ramparts of the old medina
You must remember this, a kiss is just a kiss… The entire movie was shot inside the Warner Brothers studio in Hollywood and not in Casablanca at all!
