Essaouira is a busy little port town on the Atlantic Coast. The old centre (the Medina) was built out into the sea and surrounded by heavy fortified walls and ramparts with an almost European feel.
Inside the walls, the Medina was definitely Moroccan with narrow alleyways, elaborate doorways and souks
The entrance to the busy fishing harbour
Fishermen and seagulls with the day’s catch
The Mellaa (Jewish Quarter)
Outside the city walls, we visited the beach
And a Christian cemetery
