The historical centre of Nimes was full of interesting buildings, fountains and Roman ruins.

We spent an afternoon clambering around the Arenes – a 2,000 year old Roman amphitheatre in the middle of town.

While we were in Nimes we went to Pont du Gard.  The aqueduct carried water to Nimes and was the highest aqueduct in the Roman world.
