The Augustiner Bräustübl was founded by the Augustinian monks
The beer was served in heavy stone mugs directly from wooden beer barrels and tasted great with pork ribs and sauerkraut

Our first sight of the Hohensalzburg Castle at the top of the Festungsberg
Views from the castle
View of the Executioner’s House from the castle. It was believed that to live anywhere near the executioner was bad luck. He is rumoured to have practised his trade on heads of lettuce grown in his garden!
We climbed back down the hill to Kapitelplatz (Chapter Square)
St Peter’s cemetery with flower filled graves and catacombs carved into the nearby cliff side
